The Cirque Nocturne comes to life with the dusk. The lights seem to come on in a wave, beginning at the Ticket Booth and twinkling on from there until the entire property is glowing. Lanterns hang in the trees, decorative streetlamps light the walkways, and the pavilions and tents glow in their own right. While the Cirque lights begin to shimmer as the sun begins to set, the gates don't open until full dark has fallen.
The Cirque Nocturne never opens while the sun is up.
The buildings and pavilions are not the garish, colorful things that one might associate with a typical circus. Instead, they are black and white. Some are striped, some are otherwise patterned, but many are solid in color. When their doors or curtains open, they glow from within, lit by candles or lanterns, some even by black-lights. The Ferris wheel is hung with red and white lights, turning gracefully, and the carousel glows with the same welcoming colors. Performers and barkers roam the Midway, luring guests in to see different spectacles, and offering new delights. Peals of laughter come from the rides, music flows from some of the tents, and sweet-and-salty scents waft from the food stands flavor the air.
It's true, some of the attractions are truly amazing. How can someone breathe underwater for that long, really? And doesn't the largest pavilion, the Big Top, seem even larger from the inside? The eyes of some of those burlesque dancers flash just a little too brightly, and some of the Illusionist's tricks are really just too astounding... Are those screams of laughter coming from the Mirrored Labyrinth, or are they real screams?
There's nothing to fear, of course. It's just a lovely circus, a beautiful carnival. You're safe and sound.
WELCOME TO THE GAME!
If you've come this far, you've probably gathered the gist of what Cirque Nocturne is about. This is an invite-only game about a better-than-ordinary carnival-slash-circus. What makes it better? Well, that all the magic inside is real, for starters. And then there's the fact that the majority of the performers and employees are supernatural in nature.
To most mortals, the Cirque Nocturne seems like just another carnival, albeit an especially amazing one. It offers a safe haven to the supernatural creatures that come across it, however, offering safety and acceptance in exchange for their particular talents. Maybe they just stumble upon the circus, drawn there by the pull of others like themselves; maybe they're called there by creatures that they know, or directed to the plantation by rumors in the supernatural community. Either way, once an extraordinary creature finds itself inside the Cirque, it is offered a home. And who hasn't wanted to run away to the circus from time to time?
Fair Warning! This is a supernatural-themed game meant for adults. There are going to be dark, violent, and sexual themes. There may be scenes or plots that involve triggering events or language. If this presents a problem for you, please reconsider coming to play with us! If you apply, The Mods are going to assume that you've read this warning, that you understand the not-cute-and-fluffy nature of our game, and that you're still excited.
